Charity isn’t limited to millionaires. In Islam, intention matters more than amount. Even a smile can be charity. Even a sincere du’a.
Here are 10 practical ways to help the needy — even if you have little yourself:
1. Share Your Food
Cooked extra today? Share a portion with someone who barely eats two meals.
2. Teach Someone a Skill
Know how to sew, design, or code? Pass that knowledge on to someone who can use it to earn.
3. Donate Unused Clothes or Items
That good shoe or hijab you haven’t worn in a year? Someone else could cherish it today.
4. Buy Stationery for a Child
It costs little to buy notebooks, pens, or a bag — but for a poor family, it’s a major relief.
5. Volunteer Your Time
Many Islamic programs and charities need helping hands — even if only to pack, clean, or organize.
6. Help Someone Find a Job or Opportunity
Recommend someone deserving. Allah may help you in return when you least expect it.
7. Send a Parcel to a Village School or Orphanage
Gather small items — books, toothpaste, socks — and mail them. You don’t need a big team.
8. Share Useful Posts Online
Not everything shared has to go viral. One reminder, hadith, or resource can guide someone.
9. Make Du’a for the Oppressed
When you can’t help materially, help spiritually. Raise your hands with sincerity.
10. Encourage Others to Give
Your reminder might be the reason someone gives ₦10,000 today.
